        Our topic this term is

                               'Traditional Tales and Rhymes'

We started off this topic looking at the story of the

        'Three little pigs'.

The children chose whether they wanted to make a pig, or Big Bad Wolf hat and we wore them to tell the story, joining in with the huffs and puffs. We had lots of fun playing in the straw, sticks and bricks. We made pink play-dough and used the cutters to count to 3. In our sensory cookery sessions we cooked pink cakes and decorated them with pink icing and marshmallows to make them into piggy cakes!

        We have been very busy!

Next we looked at the Rhyme 'Incy Wincy Spider', We used lots of different sized spiders to go 'up' and 'down' the spout. We drew spiders with lots of legs in black shaving foam and made handprint spiders to put onto the web. The children picked spider facts to make a non-fiction spider book. In cookery we made spider biscuits and counted out 8 wriggly legs.

Next with looked at the Rhyme 'Row Row Row your Boat' we enjoyed lots of water play! We experimented with different objects to see which would float and which would sink and made boats to float in the water tray.

Next we looked at the Rhyme 'Hickory Dickory Dock'. We had sensory trays to investigate with fur, spaghetti and pipe cleaners in to explore. We used different instruments to make tick-tock sounds and chimes and counted to 4. It was great fun making marzipan mice with liquorice whiskers and long pink tails. We used the parachute to play games which reinforce up and down and made clocks.
