Adults with Profound and Multiple  or SevereLearning Disabilities

We have a number of leisure projects to promote accessible leisure activities for people with profound and multiple disabilities (PMLD ) and severe learning difficulties (SLD) .

As a school we are  concerned with bringing meaningful, accessible leisure taster sessions to people with the most profound needs, who are often excluded from more mainstream leisure initiatives which people with less severe disabilities can often access. Our events help to give people with PMLD an opportunity to have fun and experience new activities – just like other members of society.

We engage with  service users in Flintshire .

People have become involved in individual leisure activities and regular groups including: Therapeutic Music sessions , Rebound Therapy, Hydrotherapy, Vobroacoustic Therapy  and Reflexology . While promoting the needs of people with PMLD  and SLD we endeavour to engage with parents and carers in their pursuit of leisure opportunities for the person they care for.  By having taster sessions the person with PMLD has an opportunity to try activities which, in many cases, they may not have otherwise been able to do.  We aim to help parent/carers to empower themselves by providing these opportunities, listening to their feedback on current leisure provision, and providing the chance for parents/carers to meet.
