School Values
Our mission statement of Every child. Every chance. Every day. is a simple one, but powerfully describes our core purpose, which is that Ysgol Pen Coch strives to be an inclusive school that provides the best for each and every child. We aim to maximise each child's potential and support their knowledge, skills, attitudes and wellbeing by providing a range of innovative experiences and approaches to the curriculum that engage and inspire their learning and mental and physical wellbeing. We work closely with parents, carers and other professions to create a holistic approach to meet each individual child’s needs.
Everything we do is guided by the following five values - our teaching and support for children, our relationships with families, the way we relate to one another in school, formal processes and administration, professional relationships with other organisations. We believe that following these values will help us serve the children in school to the highest standards. We also try to instill these values in our children in ways that are appropriate to their understanding.
Compassion
We put ourselves in other people's shoes to try to understand them better. We ask ourselves that pressures they are experiencing, what do they want, what do they need?
Kindness
We act on our compassion. What are the most positive ways to relate to each other? What can we do to make someone's experience better? We make the other person's needs a priority and do what we can to meet their needs.
Respect
All people are respected whatever their individual characteristics. Our interactions with children and their families, within the staff team and with other professionals will at all times be polite, open and honest. We will do what we say we are going to do.
Teamwork
By working together - as a staff team, with families, with other professionals - we can pool knowledge, skills, experience, resources and energy to provide the best learning and personal experiences for the children in school. Everyone has something to offer. We will celebrate our successes together, and take shared responsibility to address any areas that we can improve.
Trust
We are all pulling together for the best outcomes for the children in school. We must trust each others' skills and experience and that each individual will work conscientiously to deliver their responsibilities. Because we trust each other we can be open to constructive feedback so that everyone can improve. We know that we can go to anyone in school for support.
